Eye Wash

The Health and Safety Executive require employers to provide adequate and appropriate equipment to enable first aid to be given to employees in the event of an injury at work. Every work environment is highly recommended to have an eye wash kit or station in preparation for the event of an eye related accident. If mains tap water is not readily available for eye irrigation, at least one litre of sterile normal saline (0.9%) solution in sealed, disposable bottles should be made available. When the seal has been broken, bottles should not be reused. Eye wash bottles should not be used beyond their expiry date.
