A GUIDE TO MANAGING INCONTINENCE

Discover the world of incontinence solutions with Medirite. We work with a leading Incontinence supplier, Ontex. Incontinence can mean different things to different people, so let's clear that up. Medical definitions focus on involuntary loss of urine or faeces, meaning the person can't control the leakage. But there are various reasons for incontinence, such as physical issues with the bladder or problems accessing toilet facilities. Here's some important information for you: approximately 6 million adults and 500,000 children over the age of 5 in the UK suffer from urinary incontinence. That's 1 in every 3 people in their lifetime. Faecal incontinence affects around 500,000 adults, accounting for about 1% of the adult population.

What products should I use?

Our goal is to provide you with high-quality pads that keep you dry, comfortable, and odour-free. We have a range of different incontinence products available for your needs. Our healthcare professionals will help assess the most appropriate solution for you.

For those with light urinary incontinence, the iD Expert Light, or Lille Suprem Light pads are perfect. These pads come with an adhesive back to stick inside your own underwear and are available in various sizes and absorbencies. Designed specifically for men, the iD for Men pads and Suprem For Men Pads are ideal for light to moderate urinary incontinence.

If your incontinence is slightly more severe, we offer the iD Expert Form, or Lille Suprem Form. These pads are more absorbent and are worn inside net pants or close-fitting underwear. Some people prefer the convenience of an 'All-in-One' product. That's why we recommend the iD Expert Slip, and Lille Suprem Fit. For an alternative choice, the iD Expert Belt is a breathable and comfortable option.

Pull up pants, such as iD Pants, or Lille Suprem Pants, are perfect for active individuals who want to manage their own incontinence wear. Our ranges are reliable, comfortable, and cost-effective. Visit the iD website or Lille website for more information on our products.

How do the products work?

Curious about how our incontinence pads work? The top layer is non-woven, allowing urine to pass through quickly while remaining dry to the touch. Anti-leak cuffs prevent any leakage. The absorbent core, made from a mix of natural and man-made fibres, includes a 'Super Absorbent Powder' that turns urine into a gel and keeps it in the core. Our pads also feature an 'Odour Dry System' to prevent ammonia formation and maintain a neutral pH. The backing is soft yet firm, preventing leaks. All Ontex pads are dermatologically tested and latex-free to reduce the risk of allergies. The yellow line will turn blue and the blue line/writing will fade. When approximately two-thirds of the wetness indicator lines have changed colour the pad is ready to be changed.
If there has been faecal soiling, the pad should be changed immediately.

How Do I Wear My Incontinence Pads?

Step 1: Get started by pulling up the net pants just above your knees and folding down the top to prepare for securing the pad. Activate the anti-leak cuffs by gently opening and folding the pad in half lengthways to create a cupped shape.

Step 2: Keep the pad folded and pass it between your legs from the front to the back, making sure the backsheet is away from your skin. Use the wetness indicators as a guide to center the pad. The larger part of the pad should cover your buttocks area, while the smaller part covers the front. If you're lying down, gently roll to your side and position yourself the same way.

Step 3: Position the front of the pad towards your lower abdomen and the back towards the cleft of your buttocks. The anti-leak cuffs should fit snugly at the groin. When correctly positioned, the front of the pad will sit slightly lower than the back.

Step 4: Pull up your pants securely over the pad, making sure they fit well at the top of your legs and that the pad stays snug at the groin. Take the time to fan and smooth out the product, paying special attention to the back of the pad to ensure there are no creases. The pad should sit slightly higher at the back than the front. Adjust the pad and pants as needed to ensure your comfort and security.
