In a care home keeping a resident’s medication safe and easily accessible, especially if it may be needed in an emergency, is a key duty of care.
Some medications have to be kept within a very small range of temperatures. This Fridge features an external digital thermometer to constantly check the overall temperature.
The construction and solid door mean that even during a heat wave temperatures should stay constant.
The highest risk is when the door needs to be opened but the design keeps this to a minimum. Even checks on temperature using the probe thermometer can be done through a cleverly designed porthole to minimise loss of cool air.
When the door has to be opened an visble and audible alarm will quickly warn you if the door isn’t closed and likewise will tell you at any time if there is a temperature fluctuation or a loss of power.
The battery backup means that even in a power cut you can measure temps without opening the fridge. The Max and Min functions also mean that you can see if temperatures have at any point gone outside of the safe range for the medication being stored.
An Energy Efficient Medical Fridge
The solid construction, especially compared to fridges with glass doors, is just one of the ways this fridge is built for energy efficiency, as well as controlled temperatures.
The lighting is all provided by LEDs and the auto defrost function keeps the fridge ice free and allowing the heat exchange to run as it should.
The heat exchange itself uses R600a refrigerant, a modern low environmental impact refrigerant that is around 45% more efficient than older style, more harmful, refrigerants.
