An Advanced Blood Control IV Catheter
The BD Saf-T-Intima™ Closed System IV Catheter comes from over 10 years of clinical research to deal with the ever present problem of avoiding exposing healthcare workers and others to bloodborne pathogens.
Manufactured from BD Vialon™ biomaterial, to cut the chances of infection, improve the ease of insertion and allow for the IV cannula to be left in for longer (higher indwelling time) without issues such as vein swelling, though standard clinical recommendations for maximum indwell time should still be followed.

A Closed Catheter System for Minimising Blood Exposure
The system is designed to make vascular access easier and consistent, with a design that is easy to learn to use and then even easier when using regularly. This decreases discomfort for patients and increases the chances of successful vascular access first time.
The pre attached extension tubing is an important part of the closed system and the removable PRN adapter is compatible with all needleless closed IV devices meaning the system is full flexible and possible to enhance and adapt as needed.
Pre-priming and flushing is also part of the system to optimise insertion making it easier and again increasing the chance of success first time, even in patients who have had regular vascular access.

A Closed System IV Catheter System for almost completely blood-free venipuncture. The safety cannula protects healthcare workers and carers as well as the patients themselves by minimising blood exposure and improving infection control.
The needle shielding system of this safety IV System is engineered to ensure it is easy to insert needles but the passive protection system protects the clinician or other healthcare worker from accidental needlestick injury.
